Description¹:

These explosive main charges were part of IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices) and were frequently incorporated into custom-sewn pouches & belts that were used for suicide bombing purposes. The differences in the materials used and deviations in design suggest that these were centrally designed and manufactured in a decentralised manner. The curved shape of the explosive main charges were designed to ensure a snug fit against the curvature of the body, further aiding concealment. Hand grenade fuzes were frequently used as the initiator for these type of explosive devices (See image centre bottom, hand grenade fuze wrapped in red electrical tape)
