These electric detonators, also known as electric blasting caps, are used to initiate the IED (Improvised Explosive Device) main charges that comprise of high explosives. When constructing IEDs, the detonator is typically the most complex component to improvise. These items are often stolen, or acquired through 3rd parties (E.g. Legitimately registered companies purchasing on behalf of the end user) These items contain highly sensitive explosives that may inadvertently function through rough handling, exposure to high heat, or stray electrical currents. Despite the small quantities of explosives contained within, they can cause serious injuries when handled improperly.
