These projected grenades (Extreme right of image with the gold tops) have reportedly been incorporated into improvised munitions that were deployed by commercial off the shelf UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, or popularly called "drones"). 40mm projected grenades of the HEDP design (High Explosive Dual Purpose) were not only effective against personnel, but also against vehicles as well, penetrating up to 7.6cm of armour. The safety devices in the grenade fuzing were frequently modified to bypass the normal arming function, enabling it to function at much lower velocities (and shorter distances). Additionally, improvised tail units were attached to improve stability in flight when deployed from modified UAVs.
