Description¹:

An air conditioning refrigerant cylinder has been repurposed to contain the improvised explosives. Key indicators include detonating cord protruding from the container (red cord), as well as the heavy crystallisation around the opening. This crystallisation often occurs when water-soluble explosive components are exposed to moisture/high humidity and begin to separate into their constituent parts. The corrosion pattern on the container suggests that it was previously wrapped in plastic and buried, having prolonged exposure to high humidity/groundwater. A common type of explosives used in these IEDs are nitrate based (E.g. Ammonium Nitrate), enhanced with a metallic powder.
