Title: Steel ball bearings mixed into an improvised explosive device (IED) main explosive charge
Description1:
Ball bearings, metal waste, and other hard materials (E.g. Broken glass & ceramics) are frequently mixed into explosive main charges during the construction of IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices) in order to enhance their fragmentation effects. The silver-coloured material around the neck of the plastic bottle opening was assessed to be heavily aluminized improvised explosive material. Aluminium is frequently added to explosives to enhance the heat output, thereby increasing the blast effects.
